My Top 5 Neutral Paint Colors

Neutral paint tones aren’t just a trend, though they are very popular right now, but a tried-and-true classic we’ve been using since paint was invented! And we’ll be using them far into the future. Diana Vreeland famously said “The eye needs to travel,” to which I’m is adding my own axiom - “The eye needs to rest.” Neutral backgrounds give you the perfect opportunity to do so. So here are my top 5 go-to neutrals, in no particular order!

Sherwin-Williams Drift of Mist

If there were such a thing as a happy greige it would be Drift of Mist. It’s a true greige, with just enough warmth and depth to keep it…well, happy. I loved the way it turned out on these kitchen cabinets.

Benjamin Moore Storm

In this workout room for the ASID Showhouse, I used Benjamin Moore Storm for trim, doors, and the ceiling. It's a mid-tone gray that's cool and light, so it works perfectly anywhere!

Benjamin Moore Adagio

In this master bath, I used Benjamin Moore’s Adagio. It’s a lovely mid-tone grey with a touch of blue to keep things calm, cool, and collected.

Sherman-Williams Extra White

In the same project, I painted the kitchen cabinets Sherwin-Williams Extra White. It’s a clear, true white that lightens and brightens any room. This kitchen couldn’t be brighter and cheerier. Try it in a room you want to lighten up - you’ll love it!

Benjamin Moore Paper White

In my University project, I used one of my very favorite neutrals in the formal living room. I swathed it with Benjamin Moore Paper White, which is a white with a blue-gray undertone. On a wall, it’s understated, sophisticated and slightly Gustavian, so it elevates any room!
