New Ideas for Tile
Tile is such a versatile product, but it isn’t just for bathroom floors or kitchen backsplashes. Because it stands up to wear-and-tear, and it’s easy to clean, tile can be used in so many places throughout the home. Here are a few of my favorite ideas for tile!
Fireplace Surround
This is the perfect spot for tile and one of my favorite places to use this material. Forget smoke stains on your wood, soot and stains wipe off easily when you’re using tile. And if you use a great patterned tile like I did in the room above, it gives you a focal point in the space, too!
Kitchen Island Kickplate
One of the things that is guaranteed is that kids love sitting at a kitchen island, and they love to kick the inside of it as they sit there. To avoid that - and all the scuffs that come with it - I like to use tile to create a “kickplate.” That can hold up much better to jiggling shoes and scraping barstools. Note that I also added a plug under the counter for teens and their tech.
Outdoor Bar
If you have an outdoor seating area, like the bar above, it’s another great place to use tile to protect your walls. The penny tile I used above creates a “bubble” look that complements the coastal setting, and it holds up well to seated guests.
On the Stairs
Another place in the house that sees a lot of scuff is the stairs. I used tile on the risers in this beach house to keep the wear-and-tear down to a minimum. And it looks fab going up, too!
Inside Shelves
Tiling the wall behind shelves in a laundry is a great way to keep things clean and tidy. The pattern adds visual interest and the material is easy to clean. Perfect for a room that’s meant to keep things neat.
