Beautiful Blues

The universal favorite color is one that I work with often - of course it’s blue. Blue is a calming color that evokes trust and serenity. My clients are just as captivated with the color as most people are. But there are hundreds of blue hues out there, which keeps things interesting and fresh! Here are my favorite blues to use in a home’s interiors.

Sky Blue

Tranquility is the first emotion you feel when you see this pale and light color. It also has a cooling effect, so it’s perfect for sunny rooms. I used shades of this color in the living room above, and it’s created a sweet sanctuary for my clients’ family and friends.

Imperial Blue

This grey-blue color is a quiet but commanding hue. I love blues in a bedroom because they are so restful and calm - perfect for a good night’s sleep. That’s why I used the imperial color on the bed and chaise in the room I designed above.

Turquoise Blue

One of the reasons that blue is such a popular color is because it reminds us of the colors of coastal views. Turquoise is such a gorgeous shade, specifically due to its reference to the Caribbean.

Sapphire Blue

Jewel tones create upbeat and happy moments in the home, and this bright blue adds a pleasing punch to the Houston home I designed above. Remember that there is a blue for any room in your home, even the kitchen!

Cadet Blue

This blue leans toward the green side of the blue spectrum. It’s such a lovely color and works well against neutral shades that let it shine. This shade creates a quiet calm amid any chaos, so consider it for family rooms or children’s spaces.

Navy Blue

Deep, dark, and handsome, navy blue is a perennial favorite. It works just as well in a mountain home as it does on the coast, in modern interiors or traditional ones, and in any room or home exterior. It’s especially crisp and tailored when it’s paired with white, and I also love it with pale blue.
