6 Future Trends for Home Decor
The High Point Market is a trade show where all of the newest home furnishings make their debut. It’s a huge celebration of home and an early glimpse into what’s coming up in interior trends. Last week was the spring show, and the looks that emerged may not be groundbreaking, but they all have the common themes of comfort and nostalgia. That shouldn’t be surprising given what’s going on in the world today. Let’s take a look at the top 6 trends that came out of last week’s show!
1. Curves
Rounded shapes were seen everywhere and on every type of product. Especially upholstery! Curved sofas, round chairs, and a complete lack of of corners anywhere is a trend that evokes calm and comfort. I love kidney-shaped seating, so this is a look that I will definitely be using in my interiors.
2. Texture
Whether it’s woven, carved, cast, or etched, texture will be key in furniture moving forward. This is another trend that creates comfort, and it adds an enormous amount of dimension and interest. Love that home bar above from Caracole.
3. Tailoring
Fashion details like buttons and contrasting trims were everywhere in High Point. But even then, you still see curves and motion. It’s a gorgeous combination.
4. European Design
Sleek and sculptural, European styling is definitely making waves in home furnishings. This isn’t the cold, hard contemporary look, but instead a simplified take on shape and sophistication.
5. Florals
Maybe it was the spring setting, but florals were absolutely everywhere at High Point Market. The splashes of color made a big impact in a world that has been way too neutral for too long.
6. Midcentury Modern
Another take on nostalgia and comfort, midcentury modern is still one of the most popular inspirations for home furnishings and design. There were so many midcentury looks at High Point Market, so look for this to be a long-term trend.
